Overview

Fluency Streak ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how our mobile application handles your information.

Data Collection

Learning Data

Your core language learning data — including session history, streaks, and preferences — is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this information unless you choose to share it through our optional social features.

Social Features (Optional)

If you choose to use Fluency Streak's social features, some data is stored on our servers to enable the community experience. Social features are entirely optional — you can use Fluency Streak without creating an account or sharing any data.

Data collected when you use social features:

• Account information (username, display name, avatar image)
• Posts you create (text posts, photo posts, shared stats, daily digests, milestones)
• Comments and replies you write
• Social interactions (likes, follows)
• Language preferences you choose to share publicly

Content moderation data: To keep the community safe, we collect reports and block actions. If you report content or block a user, that action is recorded. Content that receives multiple reports may be automatically hidden pending review.

Social data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Your social profile, posts, and interactions are visible to other Fluency Streak users according to your privacy settings. For more information, see Supabase's privacy policy.

Subscription Data

When you purchase a subscription through the app, we collect and process limited information to manage your subscription:

• Anonymous user identifier (generated by the app)
• Subscription status and purchase history
• Transaction receipts from Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Device information (OS version, device model)

This data is necessary to provide you with subscription features and ensure your purchase is properly recognized across your devices.

Data Storage

Your core learning data (session history, streaks, preferences) is stored on your device using iOS's built-in storage mechanisms. This data remains private and under your control.

If you use social features, your account profile, posts, comments, and social interactions are stored on secure cloud servers (Supabase, hosted in the United States) to enable the community experience.

International Data Transfers

RevenueCat and PostHog, our subscription and analytics providers, are based in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your subscription data may be transferred to and processed in the US. RevenueCat maintains appropriate data protection safeguards and complies with applicable data protection laws.

Third-Party Services

Subscription Management (RevenueCat)

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat is a subscription infrastructure provider that helps us process and manage your subscription across different platforms.

Data processed by RevenueCat:

• Anonymous user identifiers
• Purchase receipts and subscription status
• Device information (OS version, device model)
• Subscription events (purchases, renewals, cancellations)

RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not sell your personal information. For more information, see RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Payment Processing

All payment transactions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card information. Your payment details are handled entirely by Apple or Google's secure payment systems.

Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how users interact with Fluency Streak and improve the app experience. PostHog collects anonymous usage data:

• Which languages you are studying (language names only)
• Session durations and activity types
• App feature usage patterns
• Anonymous device identifiers
• Device information (OS version, device model)

What we do NOT collect:

• Your name, email, or any personally identifiable information
• The content of your learning sessions
• Your location or IP address
• Any data that can identify you personally

PostHog is a privacy-focused analytics platform. Data is stored securely and used solely to improve Fluency Streak. For more information, see PostHog's privacy policy.

You can opt out: You can disable anonymous usage analytics at any time in the app's Settings under Privacy. Your preference is stored locally on your device and takes effect immediately.

Attribution (AppsFlyer)

We use AppsFlyer to understand how users discover Fluency Streak (for example, through affiliate links, advertisements, or referrals). This helps us understand which marketing channels are effective and compensate our partners appropriately.

Data collected by AppsFlyer:

• Device identifiers (IDFA/IDFV)
• IP address
• Install and app open events
• Device type and OS version

You can opt out: You can limit ad tracking by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" in your iOS Settings, or by adjusting your privacy preferences in the app. For more information, see AppsFlyer's privacy policy.

Community Features (Supabase)

We use Supabase to store and manage social feature data, including user profiles, posts, comments, follows, likes, and content moderation records. Supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf.

Data stored by Supabase:

• User profiles (username, display name, avatar)
• User-generated content (posts, comments, photos)
• Social graph (follows, likes)
• Content moderation records (reports, blocks)
• Push notification tokens (if notifications enabled)

What We Don't Do

• We never sell your data to third parties
• We don't use your practice data for advertising
• We don't share your private learning data with anyone (social sharing is always opt-in)
• Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated

Your Rights

Learning Data

You maintain complete control over all learning data stored locally on your device.

Social Data

You can delete your own posts and comments at any time within the app. You can remove your social account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@fluencystreak.com.

Subscription Data

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have certain rights regarding your subscription and social data:

• Access: Request a copy of your subscription data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your subscription data
• Objection: Object to processing of your data

To exercise these rights regarding your subscription data, please contact us at hello@fluencystreak.com. Please note that deleting subscription data may affect your ability to access paid features.

Subscription Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings. Cancelling your subscription does not automatically delete your account data. To delete your subscription data, please contact us directly.

Data Retention

Learning Data

Learning data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the app or manually clear the data.

Subscription Data

We retain subscription data for as long as necessary to provide subscription services and comply with legal obligations:

• Active subscriptions: Retained while subscription is active
• Cancelled subscriptions: Retained for up to 7 years for accounting and legal compliance purposes
• Upon request: Deleted in accordance with your rights described above, subject to legal retention requirements

Data Deletion

Local Learning Data

You can delete all locally stored learning data at any time by deleting the Fluency Streak app from your device. This will permanently remove all learning data from your device.

Social Data

You can delete individual posts and comments within the app. To delete your entire social profile and all associated data (posts, comments, likes, follows), contact us at hello@fluencystreak.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

Subscription Data

To delete subscription data stored by us and RevenueCat, please contact us at hello@fluencystreak.com. Note that some subscription records may need to be retained for legal and accounting purposes.

Children's Privacy

Fluency Streak is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The subscription data we collect is limited to what is necessary to provide subscription services and does not include personally identifiable information beyond what is required for purchase processing through Apple or Google's payment systems.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
